Description
The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School provides the premier, conservatoire level drama training in the South West of England. For over sixty years the School has enjoyed a national and international reputation for excellence. Students are selected solely on the basis of talent. All training courses are designed to provide students with the necessary skills and experience to sustain careers in their chosen area of work. Students are taught in a professional environment, working to industry standards. The School has strong links with the leading employers in the Arts and Entertainment Industry. There is an outstanding employment record from all courses, with many past students becoming leaders in their field
The range of full-time undergraduate and postgraduate technical, craft and management courses includes stage management, costume, design, directing, production management, scenic art, and theatre arts management; work encompasses the breadth of theatre, television, film and radio drama. All courses are validated by the University of the West of England, and the acting and stage management courses are accredited by the National Council for Drama Training. The School is an affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama.
The School is staffed by experienced working professionals and trains people for all disciplines, working together within one "producing house' organisation. The School has close working partnerships with many leading national and local producing companies across the industry and enjoys an outstanding graduate employment record.
The School operates on three sites: the main base at Downside Road overlooking Clifton Downs; in the former BBC Christchurch Studios, the School's centre for radio and television training; and in our South Bristol scenic workshops.
Performance venues in Bristol are established public theatres including the Bristol Old Vic Theatre Royal, New Vic Studio, Circomedia, The Tobacco Factory, the Redgrave Theatre, and the Alma Pub Theatre. Productions also tour to some 20 public venues throughout the West Country.
