Course Description:
Stage Managers collaborate closely with theatre directors, designers and actors, theatre craftspeople and theatre technicians in helping to realise the creative ambitions of the play as developed through the rehearsal process and in performance. As a modern Stage Manager, students must be able to adapt to any production setting from the more traditional West End theatre to small-scale fringe, traditional proscenium arch, and devised site sensitive.
Central's stage management course encourages the development of identity as a theatre practitioner through the acquisition of specialist skills, and an in-depth understanding of the theatre-making process. By assuming the role of stage manager throughout their study students learn the key stage management skills including props sourcing, show calling, sound and lighting operating, and team managing. They will work as stage manager or assistant stage manager on a range of productions, including small-scale fringe, traditional proscenium arch, and devised site sensitive.
