Course Description:
BA (Hons) Degree 3 years, Diploma of HE 2 years, Certificate of HE 1 year
BA (Hons) Degree 4½ years, Diploma of HE 3 years, Certificate of HE 2 years
All applicants will be expected to possess a portfolio of work that demonstrates an appropriate level of creative, analytical, technical and personal achievement.
The programme is designed to develop an intellectually rigorous approach to the study of theatre design and the practice of craft skills associated with design for production, set, costume and lighting. This qualification will allow students who are interested in design to acquire skills that will enable them to work productively in the entertainment industry encompassing the theatre, film and television and creative industries.
The programme offers students the opportunity to acquire the appropriate technical and practical skills needed to access a range of career opportunities or Postgraduate study.
The following minor options have been developed in response to the needs of industry which requires highly skilled technicians who understand and can engage with the process of design and interpretation, and the needs of students who require a specialist programme which encompasses the ‘wholeness’ of production and the design process, but who want to develop an advanced level of skill in key fields.
