Description
Inspiring and imaginative, the
Theatre programme at Dartington (now part of University College
Falmouth) is renowned for generating original, independent theatre
makers. It encourages and enables innovative approaches to
physically-based, ensemble collaboration. Practical and theoretical
work focuses on devising for performance - ways of generating and
composing new material - and is informed by a concern for
experiment, innovation and critical debate. Other core considerations
include embodiment, spaces for performance, context, and systems of
documentation and reflection.
There is a network of regional,
national and international projects, festivals and other
opportunities in which to explore and apply your skills. Students
also have access to residencies and workshops with international
artists.
Dartington also has undergraduate
courses in Choreography, Music, Visual Performance, and Writing, as
well as a range of taught MA courses and MPhil/PHD research.
Facilities include: a wide range
of purpose-built fully equipped studio spaces; editing suites (audio,
video); technical equipment managed by ‘Sound and Vision', a team
of specialist technicians, who both support student work and offer
short courses in particular areas (sound, lighting, etc.)
