Description
The BA in Drama at LJMU offers a broadly based degree that addresses a wide range of contemporary theatre theory and practice. There is a cohort of 45 on each year on the Single Honours strand and all students receive and practice a technical grounding in acting ( year one), technical theatre and design ( year two)and directing( year three). A significant minority of graduates find employement and are engaged with technical work and training professionally. Designers, stage managers and production managers work to industry standards on a number of theatre projects during the course of the programme. Some productions are located in the theatre of the University Drama Centre and some are developed for theatresand other community venues in Liverpool. The degree aims to produce independently minded scholars and practioners and the process encourages students to take ownership of their work progressively from a very early stage. We have found that this approach appeals not only to students but also to prospective employers who value employees who can work independently to high production standards.
