Description
Founded in 1945, Mountview is now
recognised as one of the country's leading Academies of Theatre
Arts, offering an extensive and stimulating undergraduate and
postgraduate training for those interested in pursuing a Performance,
Directing or Technical Theatre career. Mountview's courses are
structured to give students a thorough grounding in all aspects of
their chosen field. Students are trained to a high level to develop
a range of skills which will enable them to bring thought, energy and
commitment to their professional work, giving them the tools to
succeed in a competitive industry.
The mission of Mountview Academy
of Theatre Arts is to develop as a conservatoire pre-eminent in the
pursuit of excellence in education and training for those people
whose vocation is to work in the professional theatre and related
industries and to create significant opportunities for people of all
ages and backgrounds to develop and enrich their quality of life
through the practice of theatre and dramatic arts.
Students are able to work, not
only with Mountview's experienced teaching staff but also with
Directors, Set Designers, Lighting and Sound Designers,
Choreographers, Actors and Stage Management working in the
profession. As well as keeping students in touch with current
professional practice, this provides valuable contacts on completion
of the course.
Mountview also has a strong
commitment to training in television with its specialised
requirements and students are given opportunities to work with the
Academy's professional television staff. Acting students also study
radio technique. After completing their chosen course, many of our
students have gone on to enjoy highly successful careers in all
media.
At Mountview the Department of
Production Arts offers a superb training in technical theatre. It
provides a stimulating two-year fast-track degree course, which
replicates the intensity of the theatre industry.
This course is delivered in a
highly supportive environment by a team of theatre practitioners and
the teaching groups are kept small to ensure a good learning
experience for everyone.
Interviews are held throughout the
year and are open to students who will normally be 18 or over (BA) or
21 or over (Postgraduate) at the time of entry. Go the Mountview
website for further information
