Course Description:
This
is s specialist course covering many aspects of technical theatre
ranging from stage management through to creative design, scenic
decoration, practical set and prop making, construction skills, and
lighting and sound technologies, in order to equip students for
employment. The College has an excellent record with the majority of
students going straight into the industry after finishing their
course. Sets produced by the College regularly find their way into
theatres and students often assist in running shows.
Course Content includes:
performing arts, production techniques, production planning,
background to theatre, technical production planning, technical
production project, lighting skills, lighting design, sound skills,
sound design, technical theatre, operations, set construction and
painting skills, Assistant Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, The
Stage Manager.
Entry Requirements/Qualifications:
GNVQ Intermediate or four GCSEs at grade C or above. Entry criteria
for mature students will be discussed on an individual basis.
Course Length: two years full
time.
