The Drama Department approaches theatre performance in a broader sense, and screen media (film, television and new media) in ways that explore the common elements of these forms and recognise their distinctive qualities. Performance works in various media are studied in light of their historical context and the social, cultural and political conditions of production. Students also receive a grounding in the relevant technical and craft aspects as the basis for creative and conceptual exploration through practical classes, workshops and productions. The department is distinctive for the way in which we combine the study of several media and our emphasis upon the interrelation between theory and practice at all levels of study.
