Leader Performing Arts Courses: John Topping
Course Description:
This practical course has been created for people with a genuine passion for interdisciplinary theatre and performance who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts. The course benefits from a unique collaboration with Theatre by the Lake, Keswick and there are many opportunities to attend productions by professional companies visiting the Institute.
The course centres on performance projects - very high quality productions, often led by professional directors. There are also regular collaborative projects with BA (Hons) Media Production students offering further exciting opportunities. Community based projects give students the chance to work with a wide range of participants and audiences. Throughout the course they will attend theatre productions in the UK and, on occasion, abroad.
There are support facilities for production and access to the Institute’s other workshops, most importantly in sound recording and video. There are rehearsal rooms, a singing room and conventional teaching spaces at the main campus, as well as dance studios and a series of other rehearsal rooms at Shaddon Mill and in other venues in the city.
In addition to our successful and popular single honours programme in performing arts, we run a joint honours programme with a range of pathways including Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre (see previous entry).
