Description
Whether you see yourself as an
artist, designer, performer, media practitioner, or your interests
lie in literary studies or creative writing, the School of The Arts
at The University of Northampton will help you make the most of your
talents. Our aim is to provide a vibrant, stimulating and supportive
environment where you are able to experiment and explore new ideas
while working to fulfil your true creative and intellectual
potential. We offer excellent facilities and flexible programmes of
study where students are encouraged to work within and across
disciplinary boundaries and to develop their skills and imagination
while enjoying their studies.
Home to five degrees, the Division
of Performance Studies foregrounds the exploration of contemporary
arts practices across a range of fields as well as drawing upon the
traditions that inform them. The degrees in Acting, Music, Dance,
Drama and Performance are taught by practitioners/academics which
ensures that not only do students benefit from their expertise but
they are fully aware of current debates with-in the creative
industries.
Given the practical nature of the
divisional degrees, students spend on average 70% of their degree in
a workshop environment. This practical approach is supported by an
exciting series of lecturers and discussion based seminars that allow
the students to acquire a broader understanding of their subject
area.
