Course Description:
The Media Studies degree has long been the flagship undergraduate media programme at Coleraine. Over the last decade it has gained a well-deserved international reputation for the breadth and depth of its curriculum. It is ideal for those who want to understand how the media of public communication - such as broadcasting and film - have helped shape the modern world. Media Studies provides a broad range of learning opportunities, suited to an equally wide range of subsequent career choices for graduates. The academic emphasis is primarily on studying the social, cultural and historical dimensions of the media. This is combined with the opportunity to produce media production work in photography, video, television, radio and sound. The course has an excellent track record of producing multi-skilled graduates who are attractive to a range of employers. Students who graduate with a degree in BA Hons Media Studies not only have a qualification that indicates their academic and intellectual ability but also their valuable creative skills in different areas of media production.
