Course Description:
This
is a unique practice-based programme, concerned with the uses of
drama in community contexts, integrated with the theoretical study of
culture and the arts. We aim to develop our students' practical
creative skills to a professional level and to deepen their
theoretical understanding of the different roles that drama and other
performing arts can play in the lives of the majority of people. The
drama programme develops two main strands of practice, performance
and enabling/facilitation, for professional drama work in a variety
of contexts and communities.
There is an exchange programme
with a university in Canada for students wishing to spend their
second year of study abroad. In Years 2 and 3, there is also the
possibility of undertaking a placement either in this country or
abroad. Previous students have worked in Brazil and India.
