Lecturer in Drama and Theatre Arts: Derrick Cameron
Course Description:
The
course will provide opportunities to study and practise drama and
develop knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of performance
and theatre skills. It will enable students to engage with plays,
documentary theatre and live art in the context of professional
theatre and contemporary performance. Since drama is a live art form,
performance will be a fundamental part of students' studies,
although it is important to stress that this is not a vocational
training course. The course balances academic study with practical
work. We use practical workshops and rehearsals to explore plays and
ideas in performance, whilst academic modules are taught via lectures
and small-group seminars. A joint degree can be taken in Drama
(academic work) or Theatre Arts (practical work) in combination with
another subject, such as English, Journalism, Film or Media).
