Course Description:
Degree
courses in Drama at the University of Lincoln are offered to students
who specifically wish to pursue a career in drama and theatre or
related fields like the cultural industries, literary studies or
broadcasting. These three-year Single or Joint Honours courses are
located at the Lincoln campus in drama studios and seminar rooms, and
are designed to provide students with fundamental training in all
aspects of theatrical production and dramatic theory and literature.
The work is evenly divided between these two pursuits.
Students are taught the necessary
skills of research, theatrical history and theory, surveys of
dramatic literature, approaches to acting, directing and design,
stage management and production styles, and vocational preparation
for careers following university.
Work on the degree courses
is divided between the practical demands of theatre on the stage and
the intellectual demands of theory and literature. Students work on a
variety of productions over the course of three years, leading to
greater individual understanding and independence by the final year.
Studio work is carried out on the Lincoln campus and at other
off-campus sites in the city and county. Work generated by student
ensembles is performed before invited and general audiences and, in
some cases, tours to other theatres and arts centres in proximity to
Lincoln.
