Course Description:
Performing
Arts at Sunderland is a rapidly expanding and vibrant area with
programmes both on and off campus. An extensive range of modules
provides the opportunity for the students as an individual to choose
from areas such as performing, production, devising, directing,
applications of technology and community and education projects.
Students will learn through a range of practical work as well as
lectures, seminars, group discussion, individual and group tutorials.
Work is assessed in a number of ways through performance projects,
written essays, oral presentations, independent research files and
reflective learning logs.
During the three years on the
Performing Arts Programme students will be involved in staging their
own Dance, Drama and Music productions, as well as opportunities for
cross-arts performances and events. They may work with visiting
professional practitioners such as The Royal Shakespeare Company,
Northern Stage, Opera North, Urban Classicism, Random Dance and
Stomp. There will be visits to a range of professional productions
and events. Students will also have the chance to work outside the
University on their own projects, for example, in schools, with
community groups or professional organisations.
