Course Description:
Theatre
and Performance students undertake a dynamic combination of practical
and theoretical work leading to the creation, investigation and
realisation of original work for performance. The curriculum covers
the following areas: Performance Technique (voice and movement,
physical theatre, devising methods, ensemble practices and
realisation of performance); Text and Performance (directing, writing
for performance, dramaturgy and literary management); Applied
Performance (theatre and drama in educational contexts,
interventionist performance, and community performance).
You may work across all three
areas or choose to specialise. Through lectures, practical workshops
and seminars, you will explore practices and processes of performance
and the theories and issues of performance, allowing you to become an
articulate, reflective, creative and critically aware practitioner.
