Course Description:
Practically-based courses in Stage Management and Technical Theatre, which are accredited by the National Council for Drama Training and validated by Trinity College London.
Students who are able to claim AP[E]L (accreditation of prior [experience]learning) may be able to complete the course in less than two years. The AP[E]L process takes place at the start of the year.
Students work with the Acting and Musical Theatre students on performance projects, television exercises and final term productions. A number of graduating students have used this course to prepare themselves as directors, and others have set up their own touring companies.
The Conservatoire’s Stage Management graduates enjoy a 90% success rate in gaining employment in the profession. They have worked or are working: on West End productions/major tours such as Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Oklahoma and Miss Saigon; in regional theatres including: Manchester’s Royal Exchange, Chichester Festival Theatre, the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds and Salisbury Playhouse; with major companies including: Northern Ballet and English National Opera; as Lighting Designers, Theatre Technicians, Television Floor Managers, as Production Staff in Video Production, at Theme Parks and in Conference work.
