Course Description:
This programme provides a broad and thorough training in stage management and technical theatre in preparation for a career in the theatre and related entertainment and event industries.
It is structured to maximise the opportunities students will have to work on live productions, placing this at the centre of their training. In the practical context of a busy theatre and recital venue, students will work on productions alongside actors, designers and directors in an environment that reflects the practices and conditions of contemporary professional theatre. Students can expect to work on the full range of college events from in-house plays to touring productions, opera, musical theatre, orchestral concerts and outdoor events.
We maintain close links with individuals and organisations within the industry and students will regularly work in collaboration with professional production supervisors and technical specialists. Work placements with professional companies are also an important feature of the training, offering opportunities to gain experience and make valuable contacts within the destination industries.
Whilst the taught modules are compulsory, the production placements will be tailored to meet your particular training needs and career goals. The full-time element of the course runs from February until September and is in four parts.
