How you will study:
This course
is demanding and you will learn in lectures, workshops and
laboratories, as well as television studios and other creative
spaces. Assessment involves a mixture of assignments, coursework,
presentations and class tests throughout the year, with exams for
some modules.
The course utilises guest speakers from industry to
enhance your experience in relevant areas.
Erica Frost, a recent
graduate secured employment with TMB’s Product Specialist Group.
Always interested in sound, video, and lighting, Erica gained years
of hands-on experience, as a crew member on live productions of all
kinds, and as an audio engineer in studios and
clubs. She earned her BSc (Hons) degree in Live
Event Technology at the University of
Glamorgan. My position at TMB will give me the opportunity to work
with our professional customers, in support of such excellent vendors
and products as coolux Pandoras Box, Lumen Radio CRMX Nova, and
Wybron Cygnus. What more could a girl want?”
CEO Colin Waters says: “Erica’s technical skills and problem solving abilities make her a natural for this important role. With her help we are looking forward to strong growth in the High Tech segment.”
Career potential:
Our mix of theory and practice will prepare you for a career in entertainment, broadcasting, live performance and the media, event management and production companies. You may also choose to become self-employed. Latest research shows that unless the industry can recruit 30,000 new technical staff over the next decade, theatre and live music employers will face a shortage of trained technicians, including lighting directors, designers and broadcast experts.
