Course Description:
This course is designed to provide students with practical Stage Management skills. It is taught by the LAMDA faculty with the assistance of graduates from the course. The aim is to give an introduction to the roles of the Stage Management team within theatre: to develop a student’s knowledge of basic Stage Management team skills and to improve her/his confidence in those areas.
The workshop is ideal for students with some stage management experience through
school or amateur dramatics who wish to improve their knowledge. It is also suitable for students with no experience who are considering a career in stage management.
In small classes, tuition will be given in: Theatres and Theatre Funding; Introduction to Stage Management Roles; Prop Making; Scene Changes; Prompt Copy; Blocking; Cueing; Marking up.
The class work will culminate in a performance piece in which all students will undertake the roles of the Stage Management department. The course includes backstage visits to professional theatres. Housing is available for all London Summer Workshops.
