professionals in the industry, including lighting directors,

television studios and other creative venues. You will be assessed
through assignments, presentations, coursework and class tests
throughout the year, with exams for some modules.
This Live Event
course utilises guest speakers from industry to enhance your
experience in relevant areas.
Career potential:
Your studies on this degree will specifically prepare you for employment in entertainment, broadcasting, live performance and the media, or a career as a lighting designer or lighting director. You may also choose to become self-employed. Latest research shows that theatre and live music employers face a shortage of trained technicians, unless the industry can recruit 30,000 new technical staff over the next decade.
Marie Model, 22, 2nd Year Lighting Design & Technology Student: “I chose this course because I like the way it combines technology and design. It combines a technical background and knowledge with creativity. The lecturers and the facilities are excellent for advancing my knowledge but the best thing about it is the industry contacts you can make to advance your career. The course is focused on building your employability ready for the workplace.”
Jason Bozzard, 20, 2nd year Lighting Design & Technology student: “All the other courses in the UK were focused on theatre, but this course is broad covering lighting design for film, TV, architecture, concerts and much more...opening up your career options and skills base. On completion of this course there will be over twenty different career options available to me.”
