Course Description:
Course Overview: One Year Full
Time plus One Year Part Time
This MA programme has been
developed to provide you with extensive experience in the
professional practice of construction for stage and screen. Building
on your related undergraduate studies or relevant professional
experience our MA in Scenic Arts & Construction for Stage &
Screen will allow you to develop your artistic skills and will equip
you with vital managerial skills and professional knowledge. The
programme will be supported through work with BBC Wales, Welsh
National Opera and The National Theatre, through professional
internships.
The first year is an intensive,
full time programme. You will learn through project-based classes,
practical engagement in live productions and professional placement.
You will gain a knowledge and appreciation of the process of design,
and an applied knowledge of project management covering all areas of
fabrication scheduling, budgeting, health and safety and risk
management.
On successful completion of the
first year you will be eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma
qualification. You can then begin working on the second part of the
MA Scenic Arts & Construction for Stage & Screen. During this
time you will complete a Professional Practice Portfolio, which is a
flexible, part time programme completed whilst in industry.
Graduates of the course
can expect to be working as future Production Managers, Art
Directors, Project Managers and as leaders across all fields of
scenic realisation.
